Where is Hollowell Sailing Club?

Hollowell Reservoir is set in an attractive valley in the north of Northamptonshire just off the A5199. Leicester is approximately 20 miles north, and Northampton 10 miles south. From Northampton turn-off at Creaton and after going through Hollowell village turn right at the top off the hill. Watch out! - club entrance is hidden by the bend at the top! Our postcode NN6 8RN.

For anyone interested in becoming a club member, we have a variety of membership packages from individual junior membership to full family membership. We also offer boat storage for non members.
Of course as well as giving you full access to all of our the sailing club activities, membership entitles you to discounted rates to all of our training courses as well as access to hire, for a small charge, one of our numerous club boats

Members Information

Members of HSC - please make every effort to get involved. Even if you cannot make it on the day please do try and put out posters and leaflets.

There are a number of ways to help:

  • Download posters (see bottom) and get them pinned up somewhere useful. There is a large assortment available at the clubhouse.
  • Book a job slot on DutyMan.
  • If you are coming down - please DO NOT PARK in the big car park. Leave your car in the top field or put it off the road, down by the boats.
  • Please rig your boat and have it on display on the shore - better still go for a sail!
  • If you can only attend for a short while - go to someone (tea bar, for example) and give them a 30 min break

More local people are joining Hollowell SC thanks to the popularity and accessibility of its many different activities, such as its 'Try Sailing' sessions, Open Day, RYA Training courses, RYA OnBoard sessions for young people from the local area, adult and youth racing programmes.

Until now, cramped changing conditions were a definite downside for females using the club. Clive de La Fuente, Hollowell SC Commodore, admits it will be a real boost for the whole club to get the 2020 season underway on such a positive footing.

He said: "With a growing membership and very welcome balance of male and female members, a need to make this development was clear in 2018 when the application process started. We are delighted to open the new season with the female changing facilities doubling in size as this development is vital in providing the best possible experience and encouragement to access the excellent sport of sailing."

One of the club's junior sailors, Zara Avery, added: "Having somewhere nice and comfortable to change into my sailing kit is really important. For our club members and people trying sailing for the first time this will make everything so much nicer."

Hollowell's first adult Start Sailing course begins on Saturday 25 April and the club Open Day is on Saturday 2 May before its weekly Try Sailing sessions kick off on 4 May and run until the middle of July. The first Start Sailing course for youngsters begins on Saturday 6 June, with further adult and junior learn to sail courses available throughout the summer. There are also weekly 'Back on the water' sessions for 'lapsed' sailors from May to July.

Hollowell SC was founded in 1966, is run by volunteers, and is non-profit making. The club has more than 380 members and prides itself on its family-oriented approach. The club is open on Saturday and Sundays most of the year as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April to October.
